JOIN THE LIVE TOGETHER CHALLENGE — #LIVETOGETHERCHALLENGE

The #LiveTogetherChallenge is an initiative to bridge community divides through intentional, respectful dialogue with people who hold different perspectives and heal relationships that have been harmed by politics.

THE CORE MISSION

  • Foster curiosity and bring your side and the other side to the same table.
  • Commit to a standing invitation for ongoing conversation — not a debate club aimed at converting the other person.
  • Use Bucks County, USA as a reason to finally sit down and talk, e.g. “It looks like people in this series are figuring out ways to sit down with each other even though their politics are totally different. Let’s do the same.”

REAL-WORLD INSPIRATION

  • The Challenge is modeled after real community members depicted in the series — including students Evi and Vanessa, and teachers Kitty and Vonna — who’ve maintained friendships across ideological lines.
  • Kitty and Vonna now moderate diverse roundtable sit-downs of their own, working to transcend national politics and build mutual respect and strength within their town.

GETTING STARTED

  • Find your someone. Identify a person you already know and disagree with — a neighbor, a coworker, a friend, an in-law — someone you trust to argue fairly.
  • Reach out directly. Skip the group invitations. Send a personal text or a call and make them aware of the series and propose you both watch the series and talk through your differences together after each episode.
  • You don’t have to watch the series to start this dialogue, but it might help you get over the hump of putting this conversation into motion.
